My OPI Nail Polish Collection

OPI is probably the most talked about nail polish brand between beauty bloggers and youtubers. And there are several reasons why it is so popular-the vast range of colours, the beautiful packaging of the nail polish, the big brush which makes the application be more easy to handle and last, probably, is the fact that they release a lot of new collections every year.

In my nail polish collection, I own 5 OPI nail polishes. As you can imagine, I can not have a beauty blog without some OPI nail polishes. No, I'm just kidding! But truly, these are great quality nail polishes. I noticed a more long-lasting formula and the fact that they have a bigger than average brush, makes the application be more even, in just two sweeps of polish.

My collection consists of  Blue My Mind(a metallic blue), Sweet Heart(a pastel pink), Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ(a deep red,almost burgundy colour), San Tan-Tonio(a brown nude) and You don't know Jacques( a muddy brown).

My OPI wishlist is quite big as they have all the possible and impossible colours, but do not think I'll be purchasing any more soon. My nail polish collection needs to be cut down a bit :)

Coral Ladybugs NOTD

I've applied two coats of Barry M Coral and a coat of dots, using a dotting tool. 

I've placed the dots quite messy, but you can do it neater, starting with a dot in the center of the nail and going round it.

No7 Totally Teal nail polish

Let me say straight away, that teal is one of my favourite colours. It is not a blue and it is not a green colour, it has something rich and sophisticated to it. That's why I love it so much!

And also that is why when my teal nail polish runs out I go running for another bottle.

Previously, I had a teal polish from the german brand Manhattan and as almost none of it was left, I threw it away.

So, some days ago, I thought I'd benefit from the £5 off Boots No7 voucher and get their polish in teal. 

Who knew I'm going to be hating it?

The colour is perfect and the brush, one of the best for applying the colour to your nails. But, oh man! The consistency and the formula are so awful. It is drying really slow and you need to apply three or more layers of polish for an opaque colour(with all my other polishes it's always just two).

It lasted just a day on my nails. And because of so many layers( I've applied a top coat too) it started peeling.

I do not know maybe mine is kind of a product failure, but that's what I've experienced with it.

Gold glittery tips - Nails of the Day

I'm not sure what I think about this nail trend yet. I've seen it in many pictures on Tumblr and other websites and decided to recreate. I would definitely redo this with a more lighter colour as a base,let's say a peachy pink or even white. Tell me what you think. Your comments would be much appreciated :)
I've used two coats of Nails Inc- Jermyn Street,one of Models Own- Gold Finger and a basic transparent top coat.

 The main idea behind 'gold tips' is that you have to be a bit messy with glitter. It does not take a lot of artistry or creativity to do. So go ahead and give it a go!

February Favourites

Yes, it is that time of the month again! I won't ramble a lot and get right into the business. I'm too happy it's spring outside and I want to let go off winter as fast as I can!

                                                                 My February Favourites:

    1)Johnson's daily essentials facial cleansing wipes. There is not a lot to say about facial wipes: either they work (meaning they remove your make up leaving no traces) or they don't. These particular ones did the job for me this month. I even removed my mascara with them and no irritation was caused. These are fragrance free which is always good, for the sensitive skinned ones out there.

2) Rimmel Mattifying Topcoat. I've waited quite a long time to get this matte topcoat but I'm glad I finally did. It is just something fun to play with and a new perspective upon painting your nails if you're already sick of that regular glossy finish. No, it doesn't last as long as 10 days, like it says on the packaging and one coat of it is quite enough to matte your nails.

3) VO5 Tousled Style Spray. I was never interested in hair care, however this hair product appealed to me from the moment I read a review about it some months ago. It has almost the same properties as a mousse but it is not sticky at all. It feels like water and defines your curls, giving your hair more texture and volume. If you are a fan of beachy waves look, this product is definitely for you.

4)Revlon Colorstay Foundation (Normal/Dry Skin). During those several weeks of bad skin, I was in need of a higher coverage foundation. Did my research and from all the drugstore foundations available on the market, Revlon Colorstay promised a long lasting and medium to high coverage formula. So, cheeeck and cheeeck! And also it comes in two different formulas depending on your skin type: normal to oily or normal to dry. Can just express my love for Revlon, like now? I love the foundation so much I didn't stop wearing it from the day I got it! Great coverage,don't even need a concealer anymore. Staying power-came off when I need it to come off. I would definitely repurchase it! The only issue is that it doesn't have a pump but that's manageable.

5) Nivea Night Cream. You know my love for Nivea, right? I present to you another beautiful, but affordable product from their range-the Rich Regenerating Night Cream. It has such great consistency and I would recommend it to more drier skin types because it can stay a bit greasy on the skin. The packaging looks expensive with that dark blue glass jar that feels quite heavy. If you didn't know Nivea is a drugstore brand you'd think the cream costs around £25, when it actually is around £4. Nivea never stops impressing me with their products!

My Top Nail Polish Picks for Spring

I don't usually divide nail polish colours for particular seasons. I always choose the colour I'm in the mood for. However, in this blog post I thought it would be nice to show you some nail polishes from my collection that I think are most suitable for the up coming warm weather outside.

    Here it is, my selection :)
Basically, my choices consist of different shades of pinks and nudes, because I do not own any mint greens, sky blues or lavender colours. Definitely, need to include some variety of colour this spring!

My Barry M choices: I've selected a bright coral (296 Coral)and two pastel shades: a light pink(119 Baby Pink) and a light peach(318 Peach Melba), which seems to be everyone's favourite.

My OPI choices: Sweet Heart (my most viewed post http://focusonthequiet.blogspot.com/2011/04/opi-sweet-heart-nail-polish.html) and San Tan-Tonio from the Texas Collection.

And the last one is a mattifying top coat from Rimmel.

Don't be afraid, experiment with colour, because spring is soon here to cheer us up with its warmth and beauty!

Nails of the Day

Today I felt like wearing black. That doesn't happen too often. If I go for dark nailpolishes, I usually reach for my burgundy or red black polishes. But since I've purchased a Rimmel Matte Topcoat I was excited to see how those two are going to look together.

  The two nail polishes I've used were: Barry M in 47 Black(£ 2.99) and Rimmel Mattifying Topcoat(£ 4.59).

And this is the result

I've applied two coats of black nail polish and just one of the matte topcoat. As you can see the application came out to look even and I'm really impressed by that. The only problem I have is getting nice lines around my cuticles(but that is just me and my clumsiness, I guess).

I'll write a proper review on the Rimmel Matte Topcoat next week!

Nails Inc. in Piccadilly Circus

Cannot rave enough about these Nails Inc. varnishes and particularly this colour-Piccadilly Circus. On their website Nails Inc. describe it as a deep cerise pink shade; however I would say it looks a lot more raspberry-ish than cerise. Oh well, who cares as long as it's so beautiful :)

As for dupes, I find that Rimmel's Cranberry Zest looks quite similar.

I got the Nails Inc. varnish free with a Glamour magazine issue, but it actually retails for £11 on their website. If you don't have the budget, definitely go for the Rimmel version for £2.99, plus it has a fruity scent to it :)

Rimmel I love lasting finish 050 Tangerine Queen and My first Post!

Hey everyone!
So,my first post will be quite orangy,because yesterday i got in my mailbox this Rimmel nail polish.
I really like Rimmel's nail polishes because of the formula and brush,it goes on really nice and you need just two coats for a bold bright colour.The brush is of a medium size,a little bit smaller than the one from O.P.I.
The colour I got is 050 Tangerine Queen from their Lasting Finish collection.
I hope you all enjoyed my first post and small review because I surely did.
